Human + Machine Isn’t The Future, it’s the Present

Creativity is oftentimes perceived as the last bastion of humanity in the “man vs. machine” narrative around technology, causing it to be overlooked when discussing how activities will be transformed by the advent of greater capabilities in applications driven by Artificial Intelligence. How will computational creativity affect our definition of humanity and redefine how humans can best add value? Inspired by recent developments in Deep Learning, Pedro walks us through his journey exploring different ways of working with Artificial Intelligence to create music. He tackles this challenge from two distinct approaches to collaborative intelligence (AI in the Loop, Human + AI), showcases the results for each one, and proposes a different way to think about our relationship with artificial intelligence and technology in general.

Abundant Sound

Abundant Sound is an experimental project exploring the nature of creativity and our relationship to Artificial Intelligence. All of the songs you will be listening to are the product of Human and AI collaboration.

Requiem for a Lost Dream is the first song to be published. This song was written by AI but interpreted by Pedro Ruíz on his synthesizer during rainy days in Guatemala.

This journey began with a TEDx talk given by Pedro Ruíz (the human component for Abundant Sound) during Spring 2021 titled "Human + Computer isn't the Future, It's the Present". By combining the power of GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks) with human empathy, we're able to achieve music that is beyond anything we could do on our own.

We believe that democratizing access to emerging technologies will allow us to build the most abundant version of the future
